This full house renovation included expanding the back of the house and opening up walls to allow for full flow on the first floor and creating a large renovated fourth bedroom on the second floor.
A significant goal of the remodel was in creating a view from the front door out the new back sliding doors to the deck and yard on the south side of the house, as well as achieving a balance between natural and artificial lighting.
The basement renovation includes an open plan with office nook, entertainment and play space. A renovated laundry room allowed for french doors and a linen closet and suitcase storage for under the stair as well as a secondary storage room for a freezer and storage bins. A converted window into an entry door allows for a separate kid entrance or mud entry.
On the first floor, the kitchen opens into the newly acquired footprint which serves as a generous eat in kitchen and long family room with access to the new rear deck and two staircases leading to the back yard.
Builtins throughout the first floor are in the corners of the family room leaving a flexible middle space. Lighting was added throughout. Recessed lighting was installed on the perimeter of the rooms, keeping the center of the ceilings available for surface mounted fixtures including pendants and fans.
