Pomarium: The Ancient Orchard at the Rome Botanic Garden

The project is inspired by molecular geometry and the perfect shape of the hexagon, a symbol of Life on the Planet
The design was conceived as a "mesh" that, following the orography of the site, rests on the escarpment through inclined planes and long inclined steps (gradonate) contained in cor-ten steel profiles.

Fruit trees are arranged in rows along paths that run without
interruptions on the 4,000 sqm. of the area, connecting several parts of the Botanical Garden. The whole system is connected by 4 circular passages equipped with seating: the "molecules" of the structure.
